Cookie Policy
Last updated: 11 November 2025
This Cookie Policy explains how Pillarbit Software Pty Ltd (ABN 65 692 373 505) trading as Camper BMS (“we”, “us”, or “our”) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website https://www.camperbms.com (“Website”).
It also explains your rights and choices under the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).
When you first visit our Website, you will see a cookie consent banner that lets you choose:
- Accept All – enables analytics cookies,
- Necessary Only – loads only essential elements,
- Customize – opens the preferences panel.
Your selection is stored locally on your browser (via localStorage) and can be changed anytime using the “Cookie Preferences” link in the footer.
1. What Are Cookies and Local Storage Data
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser. Local storage is a similar browser-based mechanism that stores small pieces of data directly on your device and does not automatically expire.
We use both to ensure core site functionality and remember your cookie-consent choices.
2. Cookies and Storage Used on This Website
We use minimal tracking technologies and only after your consent for non-essential ones.
Summary Table
| Name / Key | Storage Type | Purpose | Lifespan | Consent Required |
|---|---|---|---|---|
cookieConsent |
Local Storage | Records your cookie-preference selection | Until manually cleared | No |
_ga |
Cookie (GA4) | Pseudonymous analytics identifier | 2 years | Yes |
_gid |
Cookie (GA4) | Session analytics identifier | 24 hours | Yes |
_ga_* |
Cookie (GA4) | Property-specific analytics tracking | 2 years | Yes |
a. Strictly Necessary (Storage Always Active)
These are essential for our Website to function and cannot be disabled. They include:
- the
cookieConsentrecord saved in your browser’s localStorage, and - basic session identifiers used for secure navigation or form handling.
Lifespan: persists until cleared via browser settings.
Legal basis (GDPR): Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Consent: Not required under APPs or GDPR Recital 66.
b. Performance and Analytics Cookies (Optional)
Enabled only after explicit consent. We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand website usage and improve performance.
- Data collected: browser type, device, pages visited, time spent, referral source.
- IP anonymisation: Active — GA4 truncates IP addresses before storage.
- Google Signals / Ads features: Disabled.
- Transfers: Data may be processed by Google LLC (USA) under the Google Ads Data Processing Terms and EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
Retention: browser cookies: up to 2 years (_ga), 24 hours (_gid); Analytics data: 14 months for user data, 2 months for event data (see our Privacy Policy).
Legal basis (GDPR): Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)).
You can also opt out via Google’s opt-out tool.
c. Advertising and Marketing Cookies
Not in use. We do not use any advertising or remarketing cookies. If we enable them in future (e.g. Google Ads, Meta Ads), we will:
- activate only after explicit consent, and
- add a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link to our footer.
3. Managing Your Preferences
a. On Our Website
- First visit: choose “Accept All”, “Necessary Only”, or “Customize”.
- Later: use the footer “Cookie Preferences” link to review or change your choices.
- Withdrawing consent immediately stops optional cookies; previous aggregated analytics remain pseudonymised.
b. In Your Browser
You may also block or delete cookies via your browser:
Note that localStorage items (such as cookieConsent) must also be cleared manually through browser settings.
4. Your Privacy Rights
Under APPs (Australia): access, correction, withdrawal of consent, and complaints via the OAIC.
Under GDPR (EU/UK): withdraw consent, access/erasure, object to processing, complain to your authority.
Under CCPA/CPRA (California): we do not sell or share personal information; no opt-out link is required at this time.
5. International Data Transfers
Data handled by Google Analytics may be transferred to the United States. Such transfers are protected under the EU SCCs and appropriate technical safeguards (e.g., encryption and pseudonymisation).
6. Updates
We may revise this Cookie Policy as technologies or laws change. Material updates will be announced via the cookie banner or on this page. Latest version: https://camperbms.com/legal/cookie-policy.
